Shell Energy is the 7th largest energy provider in the UK.
Shell Energy supplies to over 700,000 households in the UK and provides them with 100% renewable electricity. Shell Energy was previously known as First Utility before being purchased by Shell back in 2008. In 2019 Shell also acquired a large competitor in Green Star Energy, this means an additional 200,000 customers will move to Shell Energy.

Shell Energy prices are very competitive and they also offer a 35 month fixed term deal which is one of the longest available on the market.
This can be beneficial for customers financially depending on the market price, but there is always a risk of losing out on lower prices in the years to come. There is a way out of Shell Energy’s fixed term contracts but there will inevitably be an exit fee, the amount you are charged will depend on how long is left of your contract and how much your tariff is. Shell has the backing of its oil and gas business which gives them the opportunity to offer rewards through the Shell Go+. All Shell Energy customers have access to this giving them 3% fuel savings at Shell service stations. Also 10% off food and hot drinks is a benefit offered to Shell Energy customers.
