Millions of Vodafone customers face price hike

Millions of Vodafone customers have been hit with a mid-tariff price hike.

Vodafone has announced that bills could sky rocket by around 2.5% .

But existing customers didn't sign up for this price hike, which has only been allowed because of a clause in its terms and conditions that warns customers about possible price increases in line with inflation.

Customers on Vodafone's most expensive contact paying £58 a month would pay £17.40 extra a year.

For the cheapest pay month contract with handset - paying £19 a month - it adds £5.70 a year to bills.

The increase only affects customers on pay month contracts taken out or after May 5 2016.

Broadband customers with a contract taken out on or after September 28th, 2016, including those who have upgraded, will also see bills rise.

A spokesperson for Vodafone said: "We can confirm that from April our charges for pay monthly contracts will increase by February’s Retail Price Index of 2.5 per cent.

"Customers will be notified over the next few days and further information can be found online here: www.vodafone.co.uk/rpi."
